The species Mycoplasma parvum was originally described by Neimark et al. 2001. Neimark et al. formed this name in 2001 by placing the species
Eperythrozoon parvum Splitter 1950 (Approved Lists 1980)
into the genus Mycoplasma Nowak 1929 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Gupta et al. 2018.
