Nomenclatural History
The species Auricoccus indicus was originally described and validly published by Prakash et al. 2017. Madhaiyan et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of Jiang et al. 2016 emend. Madhaiyan et al. 2020 in 2020.

Dobritsa and Samadpour 2020 independently asserted the heterotypic synonym with Abyssicoccus albus. However, Madhaiyan et al. 2020 published the synonymy earlier in the same issue of the journal.
