The species Gottschalkia acidurici was originally described and validly published by Poehlein et al. 2017. Poehlein et al. formed this name in 2017 by placing the species
Clostridium acidurici corrig. (Liebert 1909) Barker 1938 (Approved Lists 1980)
into the genus Gottschalkia Poehlein et al. 2017.
