Nomenclatural History	The subspecies Mycobacteroides abscessus abscessus was originally described by Gupta et al. 2018. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 181 in 2018. Gupta et al. formed this name in 2018 by placing the subspecies Mycobacterium abscessus abscessus (Moore and Frerichs 1953) Leao et al. 2011 emend. Tortoli et al. 2016 into the species Mycobacteroides abscessus (Moore and Frerichs 1953) Gupta et al. 2018.
