The species Libanicoccus massiliensis was originally described by Bilen et al. 2017. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 181 in 2018. In 2019, Sakamoto et al. established Libanicoccus massiliensis as the basonym of
Parolsenella massiliensis (Bilen et al. 2018) Sakamoto et al. 2019
.
