Proper Form
| Alphaproteobacteriota (sic) Garrity et al. 2021 |
Nomenclatural History
|
The phylum Alphaproteobacteriota was originally proposed by Garrity et al. 2005. This name was validly published by Oren and Garrity 2021. Upon validation, this name was corrected from Alphaproteobacteriota (sic) to Pseudomonadota . Whitman et al. corrected this name from Proteobacteria (sic) to Alphaproteobacteriota .
As the name Proteobacteria is widely used for the phylum, the Judicial Commission may consider conserving this name (earlier used for a class) instead of Alphaproteobacteriota.
