Nomenclatural History
The species Corynebacterium agropyri was originally described by Burkholder 1948. In 2018, Schroeder et al. established as the basonym of (non O'Gara 1916) Schroeder et al. 2018 .

Corynebacterium agropyri was not included in the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names in 1980 because extant cultures were not available and C. agropyri and C. rathayi could not be distinguished on the basis of their original descriptions.
