Nomenclatural History
The subspecies Macrococcus caseolyticus caseolyticus was originally described by Mašlaňová et al. 2018. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 183 in 2018. In 2018, Mašlaňová et al. reduced (Schleifer et al. 1982) Kloos et al. 1998 to the rank of subspecies.
