The subspecies Lentzea albidocapillata violacea was originally described by Nouioui et al. 2018. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 184 in 2018. In 2018, Nouioui et al. reduced (Lee et al. 2000) Labeda et al. 2001 to the rank of subspecies.
