Nomenclatural History
The species Microlunatus luteolus was originally described by Nouioui et al. 2018. Nouioui et al. formed this name in 2018 by placing the species Iwai et al. 2010 into the genus Nakamura et al. 1995 emend. Nouioui et al. 2018.

Nouioui et al. 2018 provide an incorrect genome accession as the basis for the description of this species.
