The species Peptoclostridium yurii was originally described by Yutin and Galperin 2013. Yutin and Galperin formed this name in 2013 by placing the species Margaret and Krywolap 1986 into the genus Yutin and Galperin 2013 non Peptoclostridium Galperin et al. 2016.

Yutin and Galperin 2013 did not formally propose this new combination.
