Nomenclatural History

The species Mycoplasmoides amphoriforme was originally described by Gupta et al. 2018. Gupta et al. formed this name in 2018 by placing the species
Mycoplasma amphoriforme Pitcher et al. 2005
into the genus Mycoplasmoides Gupta et al. 2018.
Gupta et al. 2018 incorrectly cites this strain as NCTC 10156, which is the type strain of Mycoplasma anatis. ATCC BAA-992 is unavailable. The only available culture deposit is NCTC 11740.
