The species Williamsia aurantiaca was originally described by Afonso de Menezes et al. 2019. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 192 in 2020. Oren and Garrity corrected this name from Williamsia aurantiacus (sic) to Williamsia aurantiaca .
