The species Hungateiclostridium mesophilum was originally described and validly published by Rettenmaier et al. 2019. In 2019, Tindall established Hungateiclostridium mesophilum as the basonym of
Acetivibrio mesophilus (Rettenmaier et al. 2019) Tindall 2019
. Tindall replaced this illegitimate name with
Acetivibrio mesophilus (Rettenmaier et al. 2019) Tindall 2019
in 2019.
