The species Palleronia aestuarii was originally described by Barnier et al. 2020. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 205 in 2022. Barnier et al. formed this name in 2020 by placing the species Kim et al. 2010 emend. Hördt et al. 2020 into the genus Martínez-Checa et al. 2005 emend. Barnier et al. 2020.
