Nomenclatural History

The species Marinobacter nauticus was originally described by Tindall 2020. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 194 in 2020. Tindall formed this name in 2020 by placing the species
Pseudomonas nautica Baumann et al. 1972 (Approved Lists 1980)
into the genus Marinobacter Gauthier et al. 1992. Tindall established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Marinobacter hydrocarbonoclasticus Gauthier et al. 1992
in 2020. Tindall established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Marinobacter aquaeolei Nguyen et al. 1999
in 2020.
