Nomenclatural History
The species Companilactobacillus suantsaicola was originally described and validly published by Mattarelli et al. 2021. Mattarelli et al. formed this name in 2021 by placing the species Lin et al. 2020 into the genus Zheng et al. 2020.

The new combination by Zheng et al. 2020 was illegitimate because it was published prior to the publication of the basonym. Mattarelli et al. 2021 later corrected this problem.
