Zheng et al. formed this name in 2020 by placing the subspecies Lactobacillus coryniformis coryniformis Abo-Elnaga and Kandler 1965 (Approved Lists 1980) into the species Loigolactobacillus coryniformis (Abo-Elnaga and Kandler 1965) Zheng et al. 2020.
