Nomenclatural History
The species Desulforamulus defluvii was originally described by Watanabe et al. 2015. Watanabe et al. formed this name in 2020 by placing the species Krishnamurthi et al. 2013 into the genus Watanabe et al. 2021.

Watanabe et al. 2020 erroneously cited the type strain of Desulforamulus aeronauticus in their proposal of this new combination.
