Nomenclatural History

The species Tropicibacter varians was originally described by Liang et al. 2021. Liang et al. formed this name in 2021 by placing the species
Pelagimonas varians Hahnke et al. 2013
into the genus Tropicibacter Harwati et al. 2009 emend. Liang et al. 2021.
This new combination by Liang et al. 2021 would remove the type species of Pelagimonas. Unless a unification were being done (accounting for all Validly Published species of Pelagimonas), this would result in an illegitimate later homotypic synonym at the species level.
