The species Natronorubrum daqingense was originally described by de la Haba et al. 2021. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 203 in 2022. de la Haba et al. formed this name in 2021 by placing the species Wang et al. 2010 into the genus Xu et al. 1999 emend. de la Haba et al. 2021.
