Nomenclatural History

The subspecies Streptomyces rutgersensis castelarensis was originally described by Cercós 1954. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Hill et al. corrected this name from Streptomyces rutgersensis castelarense (sic) to Streptomyces rutgersensis castelarensis . Kumar and Goodfellow elevated this subspecies to the rank of species to form the name
Streptomyces castelarensis (Cercós 1954) Kumar and Goodfellow 2008
in 2008.
