Nomenclatural History	The species Streptomyces variegatus was originally described by Gause et al. 1983. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 22 in 1986. Madhaiyan et al. published an emended description of this species in 2020. Madhaiyan et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Streptomyces flavovariabilis Gause et al. 1986 emend. Nouioui et al. 2018 in 2020.
