Nomenclatural History
This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 31 in 1989. The species Streptoverticillium alboverticillatum was originally described by Arai 1976. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1989 the name was revived by Locci and Schofield. established as an earlier homotypic synonym of Witt and Stackebrandt 1996 pro synon. Streptoverticillium alboverticillatum (ex Arai 1976) Locci and Schofield 1989 in 2017.
