The species Streptoverticillium olivomycini was originally described by Gause et al. 1983. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 22 in 1986. In 1990, Witt and Stackebrandt established as the basonym of (Gause et al. 1986) Witt and Stackebrandt 1996 .
