The species Nocardiopsis syringae was originally described by Gauze et al. 1977. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 17 in 1985. In 1989, Grund and Kroppenstedt established Nocardiopsis syringae as the basonym of
Saccharothrix syringae (Gauze et al. 1985) Grund and Kroppenstedt 1990 emend. Nouioui et al. 2018
