The species Thermomonospora mesouviformis was originally described by Nonomura and Ohara 1974. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Zhang et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of (Locci et al. 1967) Cross and Goodfellow 1973 (Approved Lists 1980) in 1998.
