The species Actinomadura rubra was originally described by Meyer and Sveshnikova 1974. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. In 1990, Kroppenstedt et al. established as the basonym of (Sveshnikova et al. 1969) Kroppenstedt et al. 1991 .
