The suborder Glycomycineae was originally proposed by 1997. This name was validly published by Stackebrandt et al. 1997. Zhi et al. published an emended description of this suborder in 2009. Labeda elevated this suborder to the rank of order to form the name
Glycomycetales Labeda 2015
in 2012.
