Nomenclatural History
The order Spirochaetales was originally proposed by Buchanan 1917. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Gupta et al. published an emended description of this order in 2013. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Hördt et al. in 2020.
