Nomenclatural History
|
The species Spirochaeta litoralis was originally described by Hespell and Canale-Parola 1970. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1980 the name was revived and validly published by Canale-Parola. In 2017, Subhash and Lee established Spirochaeta litoralis as the basonym of
Oceanispirochaeta litoralis (Canale-Parola 1980) Subhash and Lee 2017
