Nomenclatural History
The species Borrelia garinii was originally described and validly published by Baranton et al. 1992. In 2014, Adeolu and Gupta established as the basonym of (Baranton et al. 1992) Adeolu and Gupta 2015 . In 2020, Hördt et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Baranton et al. 1992) Hördt et al. 2020 .
