The species Leptospira parva was originally described by Hovind-Hougen et al. 1982. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 9 in 1982. In 2005, Levett et al. established as the basonym of (Hovind-Hougen et al. 1982) Levett et al. 2005 emend. Hördt et al. 2020 .
