Nomenclatural History
The species Bacteroides buccae was originally described and validly published by Holdeman et al. 1982. Johnson and Holdeman established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Kornman and Holt 1982 in 1985. Johnson and Holdeman established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Shah and Collins 1982 in 1985. In 1990, Shah and Collins established as the basonym of (Holdeman et al. 1982) Shah and Collins 1990 emend. Hahnke et al. 2016 .
