Nomenclatural History
The family Flavobacteriaceae was originally proposed by Reichenbach 1989. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 41 in 1992. Bernardet et al. published an emended description of this family in 1996. Subsequent emendations were proposed by Bernardet et al. in 2002 and García-López et al. in 2019.
