The species Flavobacterium indoltheticum was originally described by Campbell and Williams 1951. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. In 1994, Vandamme et al. established Flavobacterium indoltheticum as the basonym of
Chryseobacterium indoltheticum (Campbell and Williams 1951) Vandamme et al. 1994 emend. Nicholson et al. 2020
