Nomenclatural History
This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 31 in 1989. The species Cytophaga psychrophila was originally described by Borg 1960. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1989 the name was revived by Reichenbach. Garrity et al. established as a later homotypic synonym of (ex Borg 1960) Bernardet and Grimont 1989 in 2007.
