The species Flectobacillus glomeratus was originally described by McGuire et al. 1987. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 24 in 1988. In 1998, Gosink et al. established Flectobacillus glomeratus as the basonym of
Polaribacter glomeratus (McGuire et al. 1988) Gosink et al. 1998 emend. García-López et al. 2019
