Nomenclatural History
The family Verrucomicrobiaceae was originally proposed by Ward-Rainey et al. 1995. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 57 in 1996. Yoon et al. published an emended description of this family in 2008. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Takeda et al. in 2008.
