Nomenclatural History
The species Opitutus terrae was originally described and validly published by Chin et al. 2001. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 81 in 2008. Hahnke et al. published an emended description of this species in 2016. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Tegtmeier et al. in 2018.
