The species Cupriavidus campinensis was originally described and validly published by Vandamme and Coenye 2004. Vandamme and Coenye formed this name in 2004 by placing the species (Goris et al. 2001) Vaneechoutte et al. 2004 into the genus Makkar and Casida 1987 emend. Vandamme and Coenye 2004.
