Nomenclatural History
The species Klebsiella variicola was originally described by Rosenblueth et al. 2004. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 97 in 2004. Brisse et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Li et al. 2004 in 2014. In 2019, Rodrigues et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Rosenblueth et al. 2004) Rodrigues et al. 2019 .
