Nomenclatural History

The species Microcyclus aquaticus was originally described by Ørskov 1928. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Raj replaced this illegitimate name with
Ancylobacter aquaticus (Ørskov 1928) Raj 1983 emend. Hördt et al. 2020
in 1983.
Microcyclus is a junior homonym to the fungal genus Microcyclus, thus illegitimate.
