The species Actinopycnidium caeruleum was originally described by Krasil'nikov 1962. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Goodfellow et al. established Actinopycnidium caeruleum as an earlier homotypic synonym of
Streptomyces humiferus Goodfellow et al. 1986 pro synon. Actinopycnidium caeruleum Krasil'nikov 1962 (Approved Lists 1980)
in 1986.
