The species Chainia flava was originally described by Thirumalachar and Sukapure 1964. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Goodfellow et al. established Chainia flava as an earlier homotypic synonym of
Streptomyces flaviscleroticus (ex Pridham 1970) Goodfellow et al. 1986 pro synon. Chainia flava Thirumalachar and Sukapure 1964 (Approved Lists 1980)
in 1986.
