The species Micropolyspora faeni was originally described by Cross et al. 1968. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Kurup and Agre established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Micropolyspora rectivirgula (Krasil'nikov and Agre 1964) Prauser and Momirova 1970 (Approved Lists 1980)
in 1983.
