The species Angiococcus disciformis was originally described and validly published by Hook et al. 1980. Hook et al. formed this name in 1980 by placing the species
Myxococcus disciformis Thaxter 1904 (Approved Lists 1980)
into the genus Angiococcus (ex Jahn 1924) Hook et al. 1980 emend. Awal et al. 2017. Reichenbach established Angiococcus disciformis as an earlier homotypic synonym of
Cystobacter disciformis Reichenbach 2005 pro synon. Angiococcus disciformis (Thaxter 1904) Hook et al. 1980
in 2005.
