Nomenclatural History
The species Methanothrix concilii was originally described by Patel 1984. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 17 in 1985. Touzel et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of Huser et al. 1983 in 1988. In 1990, Patel and Sprott established as the basonym of (Patel 1985) Patel and Sprott 1990 .
