Nomenclatural History	The species Thermobacteroides leptospartum was originally described by Toda et al. 1988. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 28 in 1989. In 2001, Fardeau et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form Clostridium stercorarium leptospartum (Toda et al. 1989) Fardeau et al. 2001 .
