The species Rochalimaea henselae was originally described by Regnery et al. 1992. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 42 in 1992. In 1993, Brenner et al. established as the basonym of (Regnery et al. 1992) Brenner et al. 1993 emend. Hördt et al. 2020 .
